Some older laptops have trouble enabling the acpi mode. A sign is, when it does't turn itself off after shutting down Ubuntu. Another aspect is the missing knowledge about the battery (is there any? is it loaded?). During boot process appears this message: BIOS age (1999) fails cutoff(2001). It will disappear when acpi mode is being forced.

SunSpots are cute little devices. They contain several sensors for e.g brightness, temperature and orientation in space. To communicate the have a tiny little antenna with which they speak in some sort-of Bluetooth likish dialect. They can be programmed in Java. A good usage would be to “create a mesh and observe a forest”. Let's see if one can come up witz something better.

After installation (apt-get install zsh), one can change the default shell by invoking chsh command. If the person is root, the default shell for every user is changed, otherwise just the current users. Keyboard Shortcuts ctrl+r searches, ctrl+r again searches even further ... ctrl+u deletes line (like pressing backspace until line is empty)
